Meta May Lay Off Over 15,000 Employees as AI Reshapes Workforce

Meta Platforms may lay off more than 15,000 employees as artificial intelligence continues to transform operations in major technology companies.

AI technologies are increasingly being used in IT companies to complete tasks faster and more efficiently. As a result, several global tech firms have begun reducing their workforce while expanding their use of AI.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is reportedly planning to reduce around 20 percent of its workforce.

According to a report by Reuters, Meta had around 79,000 employees in 2025. Around 15 percent of them, roughly 15,800 workers, could be affected by the layoffs.

The shift toward artificial intelligence and the costs involved in implementing advanced AI technologies are said to be key factors behind the potential job cuts. The move highlights the growing impact of AI on employment across the global technology sector.
