Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin visits Mahatma Gandhi Memorial

The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of Coimbatore, a space of historical significance had a special visitor on Friday, 27 February 2026. Thiru MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu paid his visit to the special place that is a memoir of Mahatma Gandhiji's visit to Coimbatore on February 06 & 07 1934 and also a showcase of the life and message of Mahatma Gandhi. 

During his visit, Thiru MK Stalin garlanded the Gandhi Statue at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial. He planted a Shenbaga Maram (Champak Tree) to mark his visit to the historic place. He was taken on a tour to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial that house the replica of the artifacts used by Mahatma, along with large photographs and paintings that reflect the historical connect with Mahatma and Coimbatore. He patiently observed the picture gallery illustrating the life and activities of Mahatma and mentioned that it should serve as a source of inspiration and guidance to the visitors. He was happy to learn about the  rare books and literature on Mahatma and exclusive correspondence of Mahatma that was a part of the memorial. He also listened to a special bhajan on Mahatma Gandhiji's favourite songs rendered by students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore.

He was accompanied by Dr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Thiru G.D.Gopal, Thiru G.D.Rajkumar, Mr.Ganapathy Rajkumar, MP, Coimbatore, Mr.E.V.Velu, Minister of Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports, Mr.M.P.Saminathan, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Mr V.Senthil Balaji, MLA, Mr.Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar, District Collector, Coimbatore among others. 

The Chief Minister M.K.Stalin appreciated the noble initiative that would not only cherish the historic connection of Mahatma Gandhiji with the city but also be a pivotal tool to take the life and message of Mahatma Gandhiji to the next generation.
