Coimbatore Airport Set for International Upgrade with ₹2,100 Crore Expansion Plan
The Central Government has allocated ₹2,100 crore for the expansion of Coimbatore Airport. The terminal area will increase from 18,000 sq ft to 75,000 sq ft, with completion expected by 2028.
Coimbatore Airport is set to undergo a major transformation to meet international standards, with the Central Government allocating approximately ₹2,100 crore for its expansion.
Currently, the airport terminal spans 18,000 square feet. Under the new development plan, the terminal area will be expanded to 75,000 square feet. The project includes the construction of new terminal facilities and significant improvements to aircraft operations and infrastructure.
The expansion is expected to be completed and inaugurated by the end of 2028. Once completed, the upgraded airport is anticipated to handle increased passenger traffic and attract more international flight services.
This development is expected to boost connectivity, trade, tourism, and overall economic growth in Coimbatore and the surrounding regions.
