A gender awareness program organized by Achamillai Charitable Trust at Easa College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, engaged over 550 students with counselling and self-defense training.

Gender Awareness Program Conducted at Easa College of Engineering and Technology

An awareness program on gender issues was conducted at Easa College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, organized by the Achamillai Charitable Trust. The sessions were held separately for girls and boys to ensure focused discussions and effective engagement.

More than 200 girls participated in the session, where group counselling was led by RVB Madhavan, Managing Trustee of Achamillai Charitable Trust. The program also included hands-on self-defense training, conducted by martial arts trainer Sarathkumar and his team, with Roopa Madhavan (Trustee) serving as the lady trainer for the session.

The boys’ session witnessed participation from over 350 students, where several important and often unspoken issues related to gender were discussed. Students actively engaged in the interactive program, and the feedback received was highly positive.

The college organizers emphasized that more such gender awareness initiatives are the need of the hour, highlighting the importance of education, counselling, and empowerment in building a respectful and informed student community.
