Webinar on Digital Twins and Smart Infrastructure Monitoring Held at CIET
The Department of Civil Engineering at Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology organized a webinar on Digital Twins and Smart Infrastructure Monitoring featuring Dr. Rohan V. Nalawade.
The Department of Civil Engineering at Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology (CIET) organized Webinar Series III on the topic “Digital Twins and Smart Infrastructure Monitoring” on March 3, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The session featured Dr. Rohan V. Nalawade, Dean – International Relations and Associate Professor from the Department of Civil Engineering, KIT’s College of Engineering, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, as the keynote speaker.
During the webinar, Dr. Nalawade explained how Digital Twin technology is transforming infrastructure management by creating digital replicas of physical systems for better monitoring and analysis. He highlighted the integration of real-time sensors, AI-driven structural health monitoring, and predictive analytics to improve infrastructure performance and maintenance.

The session also discussed the role of digital twins in smart cities and sustainable infrastructure, emphasizing how data-driven systems can enhance safety, operational efficiency, and maintenance planning.
Around 80 participants, including students, faculty members, research scholars, industry professionals, and practicing engineers, attended the webinar.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. R. Sibi, Assistant Professor, under the guidance of Dr. P. Magudeaswaran, Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering.

The organizers expressed gratitude to the Management and Principal of CIET for supporting initiatives that promote innovative learning and emerging technologies in civil engineering education. Special appreciation was also extended to Dr. Rohan V. Nalawade for delivering an insightful and inspiring session.
