India’s young badminton player Tanvi Sharma has advanced to the semi-finals of the Orleans Masters being held in France. She delivered an impressive performance in the women’s singles quarter-finals, defeating Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira in straight games (21-14, 21-14) within just 43 minutes.
In the semi-finals, Tanvi Sharma is set to face a tough challenge against former world champion Nozomi Okuhara, who is seeded fifth in the tournament.
In another quarter-final match between Indian players, Isharani Barua secured a place in the semi-finals after Malvika Bansod retired due to injury while trailing.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles category, the Indian duo of Hariharan Amsakarunan and M. R. Arjun suffered a defeat against Indonesia’s third-seeded pair, ending their campaign in the tournament.
Tanvi Sharma’s consistent form and confident gameplay have raised hopes for a strong finish as she eyes a spot in the final.
