Emerging Facets of Teaching & Learning discussed in FDP at Nehru College
Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences
The first training programme was facilitated by Dr.H.N.Nagaraja, Executive Director of Nehru Group of Institutions. In his topic "NEP 2020", he wonderfully dissected the broad policy with specific relevance to the institution. He explained the various aspects of NEP and their impacts on existing teaching learning policies. He also provided a lot of pragmatic examples through which the faculty members can enhance their teaching process which would also be complaiant with NEP.
The second programme titled "Aesthetics in Teaching" was facilitated in an interesting, informative and interactive manner by Ar.Dr.Amrutha Sachin, Director, Nehru School of Architecture. She elucidated that pedagogy is as an artful, creative, and sensory-driven process rather than just a mechanical transfer of knowledge. Citing from her real life examples, she established the core components of Aesthetics of teaching such as Artful Teaching, Sensory and Emotional Experience of Learning, Integration of Arts in Pedagogy and Meaning-Making.
In the third and final programme, Dr.P.R.Balaji, Dean & Director, Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences shared an exciting and eloquent presentation titled "Peer collaboration and mentoring". He started the session by mentioning that AI cannot replace the human component of teachers and only teachers can provide the mentoring and collaboration which eludes AI. With an air of friendliness, he explained the nuances of peer collaboration and mentoring and how it would be helpful to both the teachers and the students.
All faculty members of Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Sciences (NCAAS) participated in the faculty development programme. They were very appreciative of the insights obtained from celebrated team of teachers and looked forward to enhancing their classroom delivery experiences based on the learnings from the FDP.
