The valour of Indian Army accentuated at CBC's monthly meet
The Coimbatore Book Club
The Coimbatore Book Club (CBC), a book club based in the city with a legacy of 60 years had its monthly meeting from 05.00 PM to 06.30 PM on Sunday, 22 February 2026 at Kumaraguru City Centre, Race Course, Coimbatore.
It turned out to be a very interesting, interactive and enjoyable session. Prof.V.Anto, author of the book "Netaji Bose - Father of Secularism" presented a wonderful review of the book "The Himalayan Blunder - The Curtain Raiser to the Sino Indian War of 1962" written by Brigadier JP Dalvi. His listing out the war with its sequence of dates and events established his knowledge on the timeline. He went on to present a lucid picture of the Chinese problem and the issue of Tibet. Prof.Anto being a Friends of Tiber campaigner emphasised the past present and future of TIbet in a passionate manner.
The review gave way to well meaning discussions related to war and Indian Army. Retired Wing Commander Raghavan added his first hand experiences and shared his valuable perspectives on frontier disputes. Citing from his presence in many frontier locations, he explained about how our defence forces play an extraordinarily courageous roles in defending our motherland and citizens. His emphasis on moral dilemma of the officers during firing to avoid escalations was well received by the audience. Mr. Rajesh Govindarajalu, Historian added his thoughts on the Chinese aggressions and the wrong doings in the border. Mrs Winnie Menon made a clear point that presentations in public forums should not be just personal opinions but well established facts that do not leave a poor taste. She applauded the establishment of fact by speakers in an age where misinformation has it easy. All the members joined in recording their admiration and gratitude to the Indian Army.
The President Mr Namasivayam Thiagarajan coordinated and summarised the valuable interactions. The Coimbatore Book Club also attempted for technological intervention in recording and livestreaming the book review and hoped to ensure that members unable to attend the reviews can attend it online. Dr Ronald Hardrian thanked each especially thanking Prof Anto for wonderful review and his responses to queries raised by our members. He also requested members to attend monthly meetings without fail.
