The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre organized a webinar on “AI-Driven Smart VLSI Optimization” for World Engineering Day 2026 in association with PSG iTech, featuring Ms. K. Srreenandhini from SanDisk India.

The Institution of Engineers (India), Coimbatore Local Centre celebrated World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2026 by organizing a technical webinar titled “AI-Driven Smart VLSI Optimization.” The event was conducted on March 7, 2026 (Saturday) at 10:00 AM in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (PSG iTech), Coimbatore.

The session featured Ms. K. Srreenandhini, Senior Engineer at SanDisk India Device Design Center, Bangalore, as the keynote speaker. Around 70 participants attended the event, including students, faculty members, and engineering professionals.

The program began with a welcome and presidential address by Dr. M. Senthilkumar, Chairman of IEI Coimbatore Local Centre. In his address, he emphasized the significance of World Engineering Day, highlighting the contributions of engineers in advancing sustainable development and technological innovation.

Following the welcome address, Dr. M. Jothibasu, IEI Institutional Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at PSG iTech, introduced the guest speaker and highlighted her professional achievements in the semiconductor industry.

During the lecture, Ms. K. Srreenandhini explained the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in modern VLSI design and optimization. She discussed how AI-based techniques help improve design efficiency, reduce verification time, and enhance the performance of semiconductor systems. Drawing from her professional experience, she also shared practical insights into real-world challenges and opportunities within the semiconductor industry.

She further emphasized the increasing demand for skilled engineers in semiconductor technologies and encouraged participants to continuously upgrade their knowledge in emerging technologies such as AI-driven design methodologies and advanced VLSI systems.

The session inspired participants to explore innovative research approaches and career opportunities in the fields of VLSI design, semiconductor technology, and artificial intelligence.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. J. Pradeep Kumar, Honorary Secretary of IEI Coimbatore Local Centre, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, the collaborating institution, and all participants for making the program successful.
