Students Create World Record by Performing Silambam Blindfolded on Pots for 4 Hours
Thirteen school students in Coimbatore set a world record by standing blindfolded on stacked pots and performing Silambam, Surul Vaal, and Maan Kombu for four continuous hours, promoting traditional Tamil martial arts.
In Coimbatore, students ranging from three years old, along with 13 participants, created a world record by standing blindfolded on two stacked pots and continuously performing traditional Tamil martial arts such as Silambam, Maan Kombu, and Surul Vaal for four hours.
As part of an effort to revive and promote Tamil traditional arts, a world record attempt was held today at a private college in the Chinnavedampatti area of Coimbatore. The challenge involved standing on stacked pots and performing Silambam for an extended duration.
A total of 13 school students, trained in Silambam at the Aadhi Tamizhan Kalai Koodam, took part in the event. Standing in a line on the arranged pots, the students continuously performed Silambam, Surul Vaal, Maan Kombu, and sword techniques for four hours.
The record attempt, conducted across different age categories, was officially monitored and recognized by the “Global World Record” organization, which entered the achievement into its world record book and honored the students with medals.
Similarly, the students were also felicitated for their recent achievements at an international-level Silambam competition held in Karaikal, Puducherry, where they won a total of 26 medals — 18 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze.
