South Africa delivered a commanding performance to defeat West Indies by nine wickets in their T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 clash on Thursday in Ahmedabad, moving a step closer to securing a place in the semi-finals.
Chasing a target of 177, the Proteas dominated from the start and kept constant pressure on the West Indian bowlers. Quinton de Kock provided a flying start with a blistering 47 off just 24 balls, setting the tone for the chase.
Skipper Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton then took complete control of the match with an explosive unbeaten partnership. Markram remained not out on 82, while Rickelton supported him brilliantly with an unbeaten 45, guiding South Africa to a comfortable victory.
This emphatic win significantly strengthens South Africa’s chances of reaching the semi-finals and also provides a crucial boost to India’s campaign in the tournament.
