Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship: Aakriti and Anjum Win Medals for India
India’s Aakriti Dahiya and Anjum Moudgil won silver and bronze medals respectively at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship, as India continues to lead the medal tally.
India’s shooters delivered an impressive performance at the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship, with Aakriti Dahiya winning silver and Anjum Moudgil securing bronze in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions individual final held on the seventh day of the competition.
Kazakhstan’s Sofia Shulzhenko clinched the gold medal with 358.2 points, while Aakriti scored 354.2 points for silver and Anjum registered 340.4 points for bronze. Another Indian shooter, Aashi Chouksey, finished fourth with 330.9 points.
In the team event, the Indian trio of Aakriti, Anjum, and Aashi secured the silver medal with 1,756 points, while Kazakhstan took gold and Japan claimed bronze.
In the Junior Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event, India’s Prachi Gaikwad won gold with 353.3 points, and Anushka Thakur earned bronze with 341.1 points. Kazakhstan’s Tomiris Amanova secured silver. Another Indian shooter, Melvina Angeline, finished fifth.
India also won gold in the junior team event, with the trio of Prachi, Anushka, and Hazel scoring 1,748 points.
With these performances, India continues to dominate the championship, leading the medal tally with 36 gold, 15 silver, and 14 bronze medals — a total of 65 medals.
