Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram expressed satisfaction over the seat-sharing agreement between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Indian National Congress ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to the agreement reached within the DMK-led alliance, the Congress party has been allotted 28 Assembly constituencies to contest in the upcoming elections. In addition to this, the party will also be given one Rajya Sabha seat as part of the understanding between the alliance partners.

Speaking to reporters, Chidambaram said the agreement has brought happiness to the Congress party and reflects the strength of the alliance between the two parties.

The seat-sharing arrangement comes at a time when political parties in Tamil Nadu are finalizing alliances and strategies as the Assembly elections approach. The DMK-led coalition and its partners are expected to work together to strengthen their electoral prospects in the state
